OLGA
OLGA is short for "Object Linking for GEM Applications" and is a protocol designed to enable parallel running applications to communicate with each other.
Object linking (OL) offers better (automatic) interaction between different programs. Here's a practical example: Consider two programs, which both support the OLGA-Protocol, running in parallel in a multitasking environment. The first program is a vector graphic program displaying a vector graphic file which includes a bitmap image and the other program is an art package displaying the same bitmap image ready for editing. Using the OLGA-Protocol any saved changes to the bitmap image will be automatically updated in the vector graphic program.
OL between two specific programs is easy to arrange but to extend this ability so that any programs can work compatibly with any objects requires a somewhat more comprehensive protocol.
The communication between applications is handled by the OLGA Manager which is included in the archive along with comprehensive ST-Guide documentation detailing how to add OLGA support to your applications.
